B. FARNSWORTH, Canton Page 410, transcribed in full by Danni Hopkins [Surnames: BYBEE, FARNSWORTH] L. B. FARNSWORTH. This well-known and respected citizen of Canton is numbered among her retired business men, having formerly been the proprietor of a flourishing drygoods and carpet house. He was engaged almost continuously in mercantile pursuits from 1855 to the period when he retired from business to enjoy the many comforts and luxuries with which his means enable him to surround himself, and to take up the pursuits adapted to the leisure of an intelligent man. He is a native of Jefferson County, Va., where his eyes opened to the light August 30, 1835. February 3, 1879, the interesting ceremony took place which transformed Miss Matilda S. Bybee into Mrs. L. B. Farnsworth. This lady resides with pleasing dignity and grace over the home whose tasteful elegance is indicative of the refinement of the occupants. Like her husband she is highly regarded by those who know her. Mr. Farnsworth is liberal in his political and religious opinions, has never held an office nor been an aspirant for public honors, being always content to act the part of an humble citizen, and faithfully discharge his duties as such. We invite the attention of our numerous readers to a view of the elegant residence of Mr. Farnsworth, with its lawn and other pleasant surroundings.
